Dr. Steve Schuder

Dr. Steven Schuder grew up in Grand Rapids, MN and attended Montana State University for undergraduate studies in Animal Science. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota and has been at Duluth Veterinary Hospital since 1995. His professional interests include long-term human-animal bonds, surgery and medical orthopedics, and end of life care.  Dr. Schuder belongs to the American Animal Hospital Association, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, and the Arrowhead Veterinary Medical Association. He enjoys fishing, running, cross country skiing, hiking and biking with his wife, Karen, and their three children – Josh, Caleb, and Sophia.  His four-legged family members include Mindy, a Golden Retriever rescue, and a longhaired cat named Kikkan.

Dr. Kristin Dank

Dr. Kristin Dank has lived all over the country, but she considers Duluth her true home. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development. She graduated from the University of Missouri’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014 and has been practicing in Minnesota since her graduation. Her professional interests include small animal dentistry and internal medicine, and she enjoys the challenge of working with patients who can’t tell you what is wrong. Dr. Dank looks forward to building a lasting relationship with the animals and people who come to Duluth Veterinary Hospital. Her pet family includes 2 dogs (Golden Retrievers named Baloo and Jellybean), 4 cats (Batman, Edgar, Dippy, and Biscuit), and an occasional foster cat. In her free time, Dr. Dank enjoys spending time with her 3 children, husband, and four-legged family members. Outside of veterinary medicine, she also loves traveling and hiking. Her dog Jellybean is a certified therapy dog and Dr. Dank and Jellybean will volunteer and visit with hospice patients at St. Luke’s and other facilities.

Dr. Scott Beeman

Dr. Scott Beeman grew up in West Des Moines, Iowa and graduated from Dordt College with a B.A. in Business Administration.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2010 and spent the first decade of his career practicing in Adel, Iowa before coming to Duluth Veterinary Hospital in 2021.  In 2024, he joined Dr. Dank and Dr. Schuder as an owner of the practice. Dr. Beeman’s professional interests include acupuncture, pain management, internal medicine, and surgery.  He is a certified veterinary medical acupuncturist with additional training in medical massage and laser therapy. Dr. Beeman is also dedicated to serving the human-animal bond in all of its forms and stages. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, hiking, traveling, attending concerts and musicals, and playing music on a variety of instruments.  His pets include dogs, cats, and a ball python.

Dr. Betsy Madole

Dr. Betsy Madole is a Duluth native happy to be serving the community in which she grew up. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at UMD then graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. Dr. Madole’s areas of professional interest include dentistry, preventative care, and forming quality connections with clients and their pets. Outside of her work at the hospital, Dr. Madole enjoys hiking, camping, paddling on Lake Superior, and skijoring with her Border Collie rescue named Otter.

Denise

Denise has been with us working hard since 1987.  She graduated from UMD with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.  She started working at Duluth Veterinary Hospital when we were still in the old building where Freeway 35 meets London Road.  Denise remembers painting the boards on our present building and spending a long weekend moving everything in to start a business on Monday. She has had many beloved cats and dogs over the years and used to show her French Bulldog and several Great Danes in conformation and agility.  Her Frenchie even went to the Westminster dog show one year!  Her new interest is participating in Fast CAT with her dogs.

Joanne

Joanne graduated from the NDSU Veterinary Technology program in 1989 and has been with the Duluth Veterinary Hospital since the spring of 1995.  She has a huge love for Terriers and has 2 Jack Russells named Clara and Charlotte.  Away from the hospital Joanne enjoys spending time with her husband, dogs, and fishing.

Jodi

Jodi is one of our longest-serving veterinary technicians and has been with us since 2003. A life-long animal lover, Jodi graduated from the CVT program at Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN. She is prominent in the animal world in the twin ports. When not at work, Jodi serves as an administrator for the Facebook page Missing Pets in the Northland. She loves spending time with her family, photographing the northern lights, and spoiling her rescue dog, Zelma.

Amy

Amy graduated from UMD in 2010 with a biology degree and completed the Veterinary Technician program at the Minnesota School of Business in 2012.  She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2011 and loves it!  Amy enjoys spending time outside with Samson, her dachshund mix, as well as reading, music, arts, and crafts, and spoiling her 2 cats, Barty and Benny. 

Kayla

Kayla is a lifelong Duluth resident. She graduated from East High School in 2016 and from Itasca Community College in 2018 with a degree in engineering. After changing career paths, she began working for DVH in 2019. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program through St. Petersburg College in 2023. In her free time, she enjoys spending time by the lake, kayaking, and hanging out with her friends, family, and husband. She has 4 pets: a dog named Murf and cats named Milosh, Moira Rose, and Marvin.

Kari

Kari was born and raised in Duluth, MN, and graduated from Duluth Business University’s veterinary technician program in late 2014. Kari started working at Duluth Veterinary Hospital in early 2015. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband Eric, being active in the women’s ministry at her church, going for walks and reading. At home, Kari and Eric share their lives with three playful cats: Archie, Lilibet, and Louis, who always keep them smiling.

Maggie

Maggie moved to Duluth in 2010. Outside of work, she fosters rabbits and has a soft spot for all sorts of critters—including reptiles and insects! She also enjoys tending to her plants, spending time with her family, and going camping during the summer months.

Rebecca

Rebecca moved to northern Wisconsin when she was a child and graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Duluth Business University in 2014. She lived on a farm growing up and has worked with animals her whole life.  Rebecca has 3 dogs, 3 cats, 1 bearded dragon, and 1 chinchilla. She loves hiking with her son, husband, and dogs, and fishing/camping on her time o

Helena

Helena is originally from Wausau, Wi, and moved to Duluth in 2018. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a B.S. in animal science. She has 3 cats named Lexi, Peep, and Polly. In her free time, Helena likes to adventure outside with Polly and go camping with her family.

Josie

Josie is from Glyndon, MN, and moved to Duluth in 2023. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Veterinary Technology in December of 2022. She has two dogs and a cat back home, and in her free time, she enjoys hiking/camping, reading, and hanging out with friends and family.

Jessica

Jessica is a lifelong resident of Duluth who started gaining experience with animals as a young teen through volunteer work at a local animal shelter. As an adult she continued working with dogs and cats at Animal Allies where she discovered her love for Veterinary Medicine, and used her experience to transition into the field completely by joining the team at Duluth Veterinary Hospital. Besides her experience with dogs and cats, Jessica also has experience working with horses as a riding instructor, and a carriage driver. Jessica enjoys the company of her dogs Sammy and Smudge, as well as her Maine Coon cat, Sterling. In her free time, she practices graphic design and crafting as her hobbies.

Kari-Lynn

Kari-Lynn was born and raised in Hermantown, MN with a passion for animals and the outdoors. She graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Duluth Business University in 2014.  She loves camping and boating with her husband Charlie. Her hobbies include spending time with her horse (a Spanish Mustang named Stewart), gardening, and legos. She has a cat named Phish and a leopard gecko named Lizzy to keep her company when she’s home.
